Whereas a black Woman by the name of Phillis formerly belonging to Jacob Ricketts of New Jersey, and by him brought into this State and sold to the Widow Clarke, and from her, by deed of Gift conveyed to the Revd. Benjamin Moore, who sold her to me.  Now these are to Certify that in consequence of my believing her to be a free woman, by the sale made by Jacob Ricketts to the Widow Clarke.  I do relinquish all the right, Title, Claim, or demand, that I the said George Hunter may have both for myself, my Heirs & Executors, and that from this tie, the said Phillis is intitled (sic) to the immunitys(sic) & privileges of a free Woman, of Witness my hand & seal in New York, this 23rdf day of November 1796.
