Event description:
Too little is known of the fate of formerly enslaved populations in the aftermath of slavery, especially in French West Africa, where slavery was abolished in 1905. Rodet’s research examines the establishment of freed slave communities in Kayes, aka Liberté or Diambourou, in the first half of the twentieth century. This talk is part of the GLC Brown Bag Lunch Series. Bring your lunch and we’ll provide the drinks & dessert.
