Pick and his Family

Transcription:

Know all men by these Presents that I Alexander Henderson of the State of Virginia for and in consideration of the sum of three thousand three hundred and thirty three dollars and thirty three cents to me in hand paid, the receipt whereof I hereby acknowledge, have sold bargained and transferred and by these presents do sell bargain and transfer unto Madame Catherine Turnbull the following family of Negroes, to wit:

Pick and his wife Judy and their Children Solomon, Mary, Patty, Daniel, William, Peggy, and Harry, to have and to hold the said nine negroes, and I do hereby warrant and defend unto the aforesaid Madame Turnbull the said Negroes against myself and all others.  Witness my Hand and Seal this eighth day of March 1809,

Received from Madame Catherine Turnbull. The sum of six hundred sixty six Dollars and sixty six Centes in full for a Mulatto fellow named John, whom I warrant & defend in same mode and manner as i have done the (unclear: whither?) family of Negroes.
